My Mother Told me to Listen to the Trees

Hey, thanks for following along. Please proceed with caution, and buckle up, because it’s going to be a bumpy ride...

This is the start of a living story that will guide you dear reader, through the twists and turns that landed me right where I was supposed to be. But that’s not all you’re going to get out of this, because dear reader I want to hear from you as well. Inspiration can strike at any moment, you just have to be tuned in to the stories all around you.

So when you think you can hear that familiar voice start to whisper, I ask that you slow down and take a moment to hear what it has to say. But as aforementioned dear reader the task that I am presenting to you is not to be taken lightly. It requires a brave heart, an honest mind, and a vulnerable soul.

**PROCEED WITH CAUTION**

There I was for the second year in a row being laid off from work at the start of the new year… Ugh, it’s January, again, its cold, its dark, the days are short, its an Upstate New York winter all right. As if the seasonal depression wasn’t already getting me down, now this gets thrown into the mix. Well, as you can imagine I was reeling from what had happened, and feared what was to come… but then something I didn’t expect happened next. It was kind of like a page right out of Alice in Wonderland… When I began to follow those barely audible whispers, I was to curious to stop and to entranced to pay attention to where they were leading me. Before I knew it I had slipped right into the White Rabbit’s hole. As I felt myself begin to slow, I braced for impact, but much to my surprise I landed with my feet square on the ground and I found myself looking forward to a future full of the unknown, bursting with possibilities…

That cold day in February when I landed in the new world at the bottom of the rabbit hole, I began to remember what she said. I started to recall how she taught me to listen to the trees. It was that day I was able to hear a voice in me that was as familiar as her laugh and as comfortable as her hug, yet some how felt brand new…

“My Mother told me to listen to the trees.

Listen to the trees, she said.

Quiet now little one, please.

Close your eyes and rest your head.

Listen to the trees, she said.”-- an excerpt from my up coming illustrated bedtime story “Listen to the trees”

Well I think that’s enough for now. I hope you continue to follow along with my story and tune in more closely to the part of your story waiting to be discovered.
